Since 2013 I have been working with Oxford Publishing Ventures Limited, to design an ongoing series of non-fiction books on a range of extraordinary people and fascinating historical events.
Many of the books follow a skeuomorphic design, with the layout design and decoration of the pages taking influence from the era of the book's subject.

Ridgeway Studios is a crafting studio based in Bristol, which houses artists from various backgrounds.
When Ridgeway Studios approached me to produce their branding identity, they were already using an interim logo that featured a very literal mountain, even though they liked the mountain design, there was concern it conveyed the wrong message.
The new logo was developed so the mountain was more abstract, with the top and bottom shapes creating a negative space to form the mountain top. The convergence of these two shapes was also integral in conveying the idea that the studio is a place for people and skills to come together.

Pop Up Pottery – Creative Healing is a charity project set up by Finola Maynard, which teaches pottery skills to people experiencing isolation through depression and social anxieties. The project enables such people to enjoy the physical, social and psychological benefits of pottery.
With Finola, we worked through a number of logo ideas, eventually proceeding with a logo that took influence from her personal work branding, so as to connect a build on the existing identity, that many people are already familiar with.

McGregor Letting Consultants based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, came to me to create their brand identity. We explored many different types of brandmark, before focusing on the Roman columns. For the logotype, the Jupiter typeface was chosen for its elegant appearance, while giving a more uniformed letter shape to the overly popular Trajan typeface.

Finola contracted me in early stages of her business, with parts of the visual identity already worked on, I was tasked with refining her previous wordmark logo. Finola's ceramic work has a subtleness, and human quality, which is what we wanted to bring to her identity.
With a tight budget Finola also wanted to revamp her website with the new identity we had developed. I created a simple template that could be used across all pages, giving her a fresh website in a short space of time.
Advertising is a major part of Finola's business, so when it came to designing the posters for Finola's various ventures, I wanted to maintain continuity between them, and reflect the qualities of her branding.

In 2012 I became a little obsessed with macarons, and not just eating them, but also trying to perfect the my skills in making them.
As word spread of my latest hobby, I started getting requests to make macarons for birthdays, weddings charity events, and even lead a macaron making class in Eastbourne for a short while.
Due to the demand at the time I created a brand identity for the hobby, naming the venture Mister Macaron, partly inspired by the many Miss, Mrs, and Ms baking businesses that had appeared.
Making macarons is such a delicate art, being precise and accurate is essential to creating these beautiful treats, and this is what I wanted the logo to convey.

Having worked in publishing design for over a decade, I have to deal with typography on a near daily basis.
My first type design, Foreman, is a geometric design taking influence from mid-century shop fascia typography.
I am currently focusing my designs on typefaces that never made the leap from moveable type to digital, studying old books that use typefaces that are no longer in use. The first typeface I recreated was Hurstmonceux, a decorative design, which retains the distressed style seen in aged books.
My typefaces are available for purchase at MyFonts.com
